ITG has supplied ABANCA and its social foundation Afundación with three robotic hangars equipped with autonomous drones for wildfire surveillance and prevention in Galicia. The units, handed over to the Xunta de Galicia, have been deployed at three high-risk locations — Valdeorras, Verín, and Ribeira Sacra — and are fully integrated into the Defensa do Monte wildfire prevention system of the Consellería do Medio Rural, making them the most advanced wildfire prevention technology in Europe.

DroneSafeBox® is an unattended aerial surveillance platform developed entirely by ITG, combining a robotic hangar with an autonomous drone. ABANCA and Afundación, as part of their commitment to Galicia, acquired three units and donated them to the Xunta de Galicia to strengthen the wildfire response capacity of the Consellería do Medio Rural. The locations — in the districts of Valdeorras, Verín, and Ribeira Sacra — were selected in coordination with the Xunta based on their history of high fire risk.

The system operates autonomously around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with minimal human intervention. The robotic hangar automatically manages drone take-off and landing, communications and telemetry, remote mission planning, and battery recharging. Each unit also includes a weather station and specialised technical support, and is fully integrated with Defensa do Monte, the wildfire prevention system of the Galician regional government.
