HAARO
European reference laboratory for the training, validation and deployment of humanoid robots in industry

CTAG has launched HAARO, its Humanoids and Advanced Robotics laboratory, to accelerate the integration of humanoid robots into industry and position Galicia at the European forefront of this technology. Unveiled in May 2026, HAARO is a Testing and Experimentation Facility (TEF) that combines AI infrastructure, digital twins and experimentation spaces to train, simulate, test and validate humanoid systems under real industrial conditions.
HAARO was created in response to the growing demand for more flexible, intelligent and adaptable automation solutions for the factory of the future. The laboratory operates as a test-before-invest environment in which CTAG develops its own capabilities in advanced robotics and Physical AI, while supporting companies in adopting these technologies in a safe, efficient and competitive way. Its official launch took place during the conference “Humanoids in Manufacturing: Challenges and Opportunities”, held at CTAG’s facilities in Vigo.

HAARO is built around three complementary technological pillars. Its AI infrastructure — including GPUs, storage, servers and specific software licences — supports model training on digital twins, enabling the generation of synthetic data and scenarios to accelerate the process. The experimentation spaces replicate the layout and operating conditions of a real industrial plant, facilitating the validation and accelerated integration of robotic systems. Within these spaces, human-robot interaction and interoperability between systems are also analysed, with a focus on safety, collaboration and reliability. A third pillar addresses the coordination and joint management of the different agents that will coexist in the factory of the future: people, robots, automated systems and digital platforms.
With over 20 years of experience developing applications in real industrial environments, CTAG brings to HAARO a unique capability to evaluate technology directly in the field. The laboratory collaborates with leading European organisations in the sector, helping to align technological development with regulatory requirements and technological sovereignty in Europe, while offering users early access to new development models and specialised support. Initial lines of work focus on logistics applications due to their high adoption potential, with a long-term vision of full integration into the production plant of the future.
