Facendo 4.0

Industrial competitiveness and electromobility through innovation and digital transformation

The main objective of the Facendo 4.0 project, driven by Stellantis, has been the design and development of new technological solutions that would allow the Stellantis Vigo factory to become a benchmark manufacturer of automobiles worldwide and position itself at the forefront of the latest technologies and energy efficiency, in addition to positioning itself as a reference provider of mobility services at international level.

In other words, the objective was to carry out research activities to obtain new digitalized, connected and intelligent production processes that would enable the conversion of the factory towards the concept of “Factory of the Future” and at the same time, the development of new systems, HMIs and products that would allow the development of intelligent vehicles called “Vehicles of the Future”, with the characteristics of being clean, autonomous and connected.

Technological Centre

AIMEN’s role within the Facendo 4.0 project consisted in developing new digital and advanced automation technologies for the manufacturing of key components at the Stellantis Vigo Center, improving the performance of the forging, assembly and drawing processes and generating knowledge on a continuous basis.

To this end, AIMEN researched and validated at different levels (TRL4-5) digital solutions and technologies adapted to the needs of several key processes within the Stellantis Vigo manufacturing plant.

The initiative, which had a total budget of almost 22.35 million euros, was part of the 4th call of the “Fábrica do futuro, fábrica intelixente e sustentable” program of the Xunta de Galicia, with the participation of the Automotive Technology Center (CTAG), GRADIANT and the University of Vigo.
