Advanced Light Materials and Processes for the Eco-Design of Electric Vehicles
Alma is a project led by CTAG involving 9 partners from 4 European countries and funded by the EU, whose main objective is the development of a new lightweight structure for electric vehicles with reduced environmental impact thanks to the use of advanced materials and the adoption of circular economy principles throughout the entire life cycle of the vehicle.
A fundamental aspect is the integration of eco-design strategies to redefine the architecture and structure of the vehicle (body, chassis and components) in order to extend the service life and reduce waste and pollutant emissions.
As a result so far, the final design of Alma’s new vehicle structure has been developed. This structure achieved a mass saving target of 146 kg, which means an additional weight reduction of 26% compared to the baseline.
