The Tecnomifood Network has a strong scientific and technological background in the development of a large number of projects related to Food, Nutrition and Health
The Tecnomifood Network consortium, accredited as a Cervera Center of Excellence, is led by Eurecat, and includes Azti, Ainia, the National Center for Food Technology and Safety (CNTA) and the National Association of Canned Fish and Seafood Manufacturers – National Association of Canned Fish and Seafood Manufacturers – National Technical Center for the Conservation of Fishery Products (ANFACO – CECOPESCA).
The five centers that make up the Network have a marked scientific and technological trajectory that has positioned them as national and European references in the development of a large number of projects related to Food, Nutrition and Health. They represent, in turn, the state of the art in the field of the use of omics in the food field.
2020 – Hoy
The aim of this initiative is to facilitate access to and optimize the use of omics technologies for companies in the food sector, at all stages of the value chain of the design and evaluation of the health potential of ingredients, nutraceuticals and functional foods, which are products aimed at a consumer that demands an increasingly personalized and sustainable food market.
Overall, omics technologies encompass areas of research such as genomics, which studies genes and their function; transcriptomics, which focuses on gene expression; proteomics, which analyzes protein levels, their modifications and interactions; and metabolomics, which investigates metabolite levels.
With its creation, the Spanish system of technology centers is strengthened in its scientific and technological capacity to contribute to the competitiveness of the food business sector in the field of healthy eating.
